Position Summary
We are looking for a PhD-level early-career Injury Epidemiologist-Associate Research Scientist to add to our Calverton Center team located in Beltsville, Maryland. Initial Work assignments will range across injury areas, including providing technical assistance through the Children's Safety Network Economics and Data Analysis Resource Center; participating in research on costs or correlates of occupational injury, crash injury, and combat injury; supporting a variety of evaluation and economic analysis efforts in injury and substance abuse; and grant-writing.
Job Requirements
- · Training or experience in injury prevention required
- · Ph.D., or equivalent advanced degree preferred. A combination of education, training and experience may qualify the candidate.
- · Facile with statistical software (at least one of SAS, STATA, or SPSS and preferably more than one)
- · Careful with numbers/data
- · Good written and oral communication skills in English
- · The warm and friendly manner of a technical assistance provider
Some Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- · Providing technical assistance on childhood injury epidemiology and economics
- · Cleaning, linkage, and analysis of large administrative and health care claims data sets
- · Contributing to development, maintenance, and application of injury and substance abuse incidence/cost/return-on-investment models
- · Planning, performing and interpreting statistical analyses
- · Developing and overseeing execution of research protocols
- · Designing and supervising data collection and management
- · Authoring and contributing to applications for funding
- · Authoring and contributing to research articles and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals as well as reports and other contract documents and deliverables
- · Presenting research findings at professional/scientific meetings and conferences
