Member Spotlight
University of Iowa IPRC

Founded in 1990, the University of Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center seeks to use interdisciplinary research, training, and outreach to build infrastructure in the injury prevention community and to reduce the burden of injuries, with a focus on injuries in rural populations. The UI IPRC includes 39 researchers from 16 departments across the University, plus a wide network of community, governmental, and industry partners. These collaborations have helped leverage more than $52 million in injury research funding over the last five years. The Center’s Research Core, Training Core, and Administrative and Outreach Core provide services to increase injury prevention research capacity. Although our research spans many topics, we have developed a strong reputation in the areas of simulation and human factors, interpersonal violence, behavioral sciences, acute care, rural injury prevention, international injury prevention, and evaluation of prevention programs. The UI IPRC also has a rich training program that includes six injury-focused classes and two federally-funded training grants in injury prevention. http://www.public-health.uiowa.edu/iprc/ Injury Prevention Research Center, University of Iowa
