Gender Disparity
In 2004-2005, men had higher injury hospital discharge rates than women did for all age groups up to 65 years of age and over. Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

    The Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy was founded in 1987.  The Center'smulti-disciplinary faculty conduct research on unintentional and intentional injury problems as well as primary prevention, acute care and rehabilitation. We are dedicated to:
•    high quality research and its application to programs and policies that reduce the incidence, severity, and consequences of injuries, and
•    the integration of research and practice with the education of injury prevention and control leaders of tomorrow.
    Through partnership, leadership and advocacy, Center researchers seek to create new knowledge and facilitate its translation and dissemination to reduce the burden of injury in the United States and around the world.            
    Core support for the Center is provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.  Additional funding for our research, teaching and service projects comes from a wide array of sources, including other federal agencies and private foundations.
