Shannon Frattaroli, PhD, MPH is an Assistant Professor, Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Core Faculty, Center for Injury Research and Policy, JHBSPH, Core Faculty, Center for Gun Policy and Research, JHBSPH.
Shannon’s research and teaching focuses on policy and program interventions to reduce injury. She has a particular interest in research that improves the implementation and dissemination of injury prevention interventions. Toward this end, she is involved in projects to: understand how laws designed to disarm batterers are being implemented in several localities; assess the dissemination of home safety products through a mobile safety center in Baltimore; and evaluate MADD’s court monitoring program. She is the P.I. on two of these projects.
While most of her research uses mixed methods, Shannon is particularly interested in the use of qualitative methods to advance the field of injury prevention. Shannon is actively involved in graduate education at JHBSPH. She is the co-instructor for Health Policy II: Public Health Policy Formulation, and advises many students who undertake dissertations related to injury. In addition, she promotes the translation of injury prevention research findings into practice through her working relationships with state health departments, local fire departments, and other organizations. |
