Employment opportunities

SAVIR maintains on its website a page of employment opportunities in the field. Also included on this page are injury and violence prevention fellowship opportunities. There are several positions currently listed in both areas that reflects the growth within the field of injury and violence prevention. If you have a position you would like to list here, please forward us description.

Injury and Violence Prevention Meetings

There are currently two calls for injury or violence related abstracts that we have been asked to make our members aware of the upcoming deadlines. APHA has extended their abstract deadlines for the APHA meeting in November 2010. The deadline for submitting an abstract for the Injury Control and Emergency Health Services (ICEHS) Section originally set for Thursday, February 4th has been moved forward to Sunday, February 14 (11:59 PM PST). There will be no additional extensions. Please consult the guidelines on the APHA website to prepare your abstracts.

Also the American Academy of Pediatrics has a call for abstracts for its October 2010 meeting (http://www.aapexperience.org/).

Other upcoming injury meetings that abstract deadlines have closed but are scheduled for this year include: The 2010 Joint Annual Meeting of STIPDA and CDC Core I & II State Injury Grantees to be held April 2010 and the Safety 2010 World Conference in London, UK in September 2010.

Do you have a successful advocacy story?

The SAVIR Advocacy Committee is collecting stories of successful or challenging advocacy experience around and injury or violence related policy. They will review the materials they receive and decide how best to disseminate this information. Please send your experience on this important work to Advocacy Committee Co-Chair Susan DeFrancesco SDeFrancesco@salud.unm.edu

Best Regards,
