SAVIR Member Update ~ April 2009

Training and Infrastructure Committee

Hello SAVIR members,

As we mentioned in Atlanta, one of the activities of the Training and Infrastructure Committee is to develop an injury and violence educational resource bank—a place where SAVIR members can share educational and academic materials with each other as we develop or update our injury and violence courses and lectures. This is a password protected space where you can go to find syllabi, PowerPoints, class exercises, discussion questions, exams, etc.

The only way that this exchange works is if those of us who have materials make them available. Attached is the list of materials that we have so far. We know that there is much more out there.

Please send your materials to admin@savirweb.org. You may also submit them on the Training and Infrastructure Committee webpage under “Teaching Materials and Syllabi” http://www.savirweb.org/content/index.php?pid=53.

Thank you very much,

Mariana Garrettson

SAVIR’s Pre-Conference Workshop

Please note the addendum to the March 09 Member Update:

In addition to great success with the Conference, the SAVIR Training and Infrastructure Committee and Advocacy and Public Policy Committees hosted a pre-conference workshop focused on scientific advocacy. Following the trend of the conference, pre-conference workshop attendance nearly doubled from workshop in 2007. Sue Gallagher, Linda Degutis, Susan DeFrancesco, Susan Hardman, and Amy Harris provided expert input on science and advocacy activities. A special thanks goes to Dawn Comstock and the Center for Injury Research and Policy at the National Children’s Hospital for all their efforts to organize and coordinate this important workshop.
